The Interior Jewels of Pleunie Buyink
at SieMatic Flagship Store

The SieMatic Flagship Store, on Amsterdam's Vondelpark, is a source of inspiration on all fronts. Not only can you see designer kitchens, but also complete interiors. And there is also plenty of room for art. From 25 August, the work of the internationally renowned artist Pleunie Buyink will be exhibited.

The SieMatic Flagship Store is uniquely located: at the front overlooking the bustling Museum Quarter, at the back overlooking the always lively Vondelpark. The building is just as special: a nineteenth-century mansion with different style rooms spread over three floors. Here, the SieMatic kitchen range is presented by three SieMatic lifestyles Pure, Urban and Classic.

Here in Amsterdam a completely new presentation of exclusive designer kitchens can be seen. One that is directly linked to the modern way of life, by showing fully equipped rooms. Not only design, but also art comes into its own here. Artists know how to find their way to the Vondelpark flawlessly, and SieMatic is happy to offer them a stage. In recent years, notorious artists such as Kim Feenstra, Jef Bogman, Noor Huige, Jeroen Snijders, Lieske Stieger-Brouwers and Anne van Borselen have exhibited their work there.

From 25 August it will be the turn of up-and-coming talent Pleunie Buyink (30).

After graduating from the Design Academy in 2014, Pleunie soon made a name for herself. She exhibited in the Paris Tools Gallery and the Noordbrabants Museum. And together with Piet Boon, she showed her work at the world-famous design fair in Milan. Articles about Pleunie Buyink and her work have been published in media such as the French Architectural Digest and the American Wall Street Journal.

Approximately fifteen of her works will be exhibited in SieMatic at the Vondelpark; works that she herself describes as Interior Jewels. “At the Design Academy I developed a material that works like a kind of mirror, but the opposite of it, flexible and without the hard and cold. The objects are made up of different layers, each layer having its own colours. In the end, all these layers work together and create an ever-changing image for the viewer.”

Pleunie Buyink uses this exclusive material to create striking objects that immediately attract attention. The art world showed almost immediate interest in it. “I also make works of art for specific locations, such as luxury cruise ships, restaurants, hotel lobbies and boardrooms. At SieMatic on the Vondelpark you’ll see for the first time the objects  in which I have made the combination with other materials: for example a work on canvas, a work combined with ceramics and a work with metal powders”, says Pleunie, who grew up on the edge of the forest and found an inexhaustible source of inspiration in nature.

Pleunie Buyink's unique, handmade works are for sale on the spot. The prices vary between 1500 and 7000 euros. SieMatic at the Vondelpark cordially invites interested parties to come and admire the Interior Jewels. You are welcome to visit the SieMatic Flagship Store to enjoy the fascinating art and stylish design of SieMatic.
