Plates and bowls - special eye-catchers in the modern living kitchen
Decorative plates and bowls are real eye-catchers and an essential part of the modern kitchen interior, but these pieces are better left on display only.... What about this beautiful hand-painted plate? I've always had a soft spot for Delft Blue, Chinese Blue and pottery painted in blue in general. So this beauty 'A Dish with a Dragon' quickly caught my eye!
I also find this terracotta 'Greek Bilingual eye-cup' a very special piece, which would not be out of place in an elegant designer kitchen. It dates from 520 BC and was shown by Charles Ede, one of the leading art galleries in London, specialising in antiquities from Greece and Italy, among others. And a little later I spotted another magnificent object in this category, made from pieces of broken crockery, with the glue visible in gilded form.
