A designer living kitchen as a tastemaker for the entire home interior

A kitchen to live in

A kitchen as an integral design element for the design of the rest of the house. That's the case of this urban villa in Bennebroek. In the open L-space, living, cooking and being together are delightfully integrated.

The see-through kitchen

When the kitchen becomes an integral part of life it becomes a designer piece of furniture. It is no longer that classic place to cook, but becomes one of the elements that determines taste for the entire interior.

In this case, the central expansive patio is the defining backdrop for every living space in the house. With its rich light, a sliding door that can be fully opened and uniform flooring, the feeling is created that the interior and exterior spaces blend together.

This feeling is reinforced by the central see-through fireplace, which thus becomes a very unifying factor. As a result, the whole becomes a space that is clean, fresh and sleek and is a backdrop for artistic, colorful and textural living.

Made to taste

The kitchen as design furniture is all about symbiosis with its surroundings and good taste. This involves a holistic approach to interior design that allows the kitchen island, through its shape, positioning, frame front and choice of materials, to give artistic value to the room.

The matt brushed metal fronts, for example, with glossy edge finish, combined with the rolled steel worktop and side walls define the light. This subtly draws attention and creates an interesting color palette that changes throughout the day. These metallic tones then integrate nicely with the matte gray cast floor finish.

Cooking like a chef in a living kitchen with island

That repetition of material tones is also found in the Gaggenau appliances, stainless steel accessories and Wave exhaust. The latter deserves extra attention because, despite the present nature of the kitchen island, the design of the extractor is fully integrated with a deliberate dual function.

It gives both the feel of a classic chef's kitchen, and a chic, artistic and industrial translation to the overall living experience.

Reinforcing elements

Choosing a natural, Japandi-style color creates a subtle contrast. The stylish built-in tall and compartment cabinets against the back wall create a warm contrast with the kitchen island. In this way, this dining, doing and living space within the whole takes on exactly its own flavor.

With the integration of the plastered open shelves, this living kitchen with kitchen island radiates a homely atmosphere. The coffee corner completes that atmosphere. Because the closed high cabinets are placed in the side wall and floating wall cabinets are placed low behind the island, the whole takes on an airy and uncluttered character.

The affluent balance

With an eye for detail and a good sense of color, the residents of this villa were able to create a pleasant atmosphere for fluid living. A lively balance has been struck between tranquility and dynamism, background and foreground, and openness and separation.

In this, expressive and more expressive elements work together in harmony. The kitchen design is seamlessly integrated into this, giving the home a stylishly functional and rich character that makes it perfect for living and being in.
